Another picture I found...

This is from Chris' wedding. I believe it was in Springfield, TN.
Murf said that he would try and follow the link I sent him and log on tonight.
Sorry, I didn't have time to clean up this scan, ironically, I'm on my way into Nashville this morning for a Photoshop conference :)

Carmen actually listened to my advice!!!

Actually, I think her mom did. Carmen, her sister Kim, their Mom and the 4 kids were going to head to the beach for the week. Their destination: Gulf Shores, AL or western FL panhandle. Guess who told 'em not to go!!! They are now safely playing in the beach south of Charleston, SC without the patriarchs of the 3 families.

Actually, I'm not jealous considering there are three adults with a couple of 3-3.5 year olds, an 18 month old, and a yearling.

If you have family or friends in the Gulf area, I hope they have already evacuated. Has anyone heard from Rob Fangay (sp?) over the last 8 years? He was there the last I heard.

If the storm hits N.O., farewell N.O. I read that it will be cheaper to build elsewhere than to try to rebuild that town. Where would the Saints play this year?!?

No deal – News from the HD DVD front line

Well, it doesn’t look good for a compromise between Blu-Ray ( Sony) and HD-DVD ( Toshiba and others ). The on again off again talks of a compromise had a late August deadline to decide something – anything – to make the Christmas season sales with cross platform products. But, the parties have trashed any hopes with their stubborn greedy arrogant stance that there can be only one “best product”

This is the beginning of a split in a technology path that our parents have seen once already. VHS – Betamax, here we go again.

My take is that Sony will market Blu-Ray ( the superior product ) to gaming console manufactors and computer storage markets where there is no cross platform standards to worry about because Microsoft and Macintosh will support both. Hollywood has already sided with HD-DVD because it knows that it can sell its HD catalog of product now and in less then 10 years it will again get to sell its entire collection of movies on a new disk format – mostly likely a form of holodisk.

This makes it really hard for authoring geeks like me – I have to guess who will win the marking battle and buy my tools accordingly. An expensive mistake if you choose the wrong side…

Mile High Formal '94

Here's a memory out of my scrapbook. I can say, I actually remember that moment - the rest of the night is foggy. :}

This is a test...

This Space For Rent. Your Message Here, CHEAP!

Recruit! Recruit!! RECRUIT!!!!!

Carmen sent this blog address to the Murphy family and the Palmer family via snail mail, since I am attrocious at keeping e-mail addy's. I'm assuming that Rob will pass it on to Bev... maybe to Bumper, since they play poker together on Thursdays (if his wife lets him go) at Andy Davis' house... It'll probably get to one-eyed Mike that way.

Anybody have Abe's e-mail? I know he's back on Signal Mountain...

Any other folks you can think of? I seem to remember one of you folks being in touch with Grain (Anthony)... What about Randy? Pepto, you're pretty much next door to him... "hook him up" with the address.

Pepto, you have moved, right?!?

Bars Open!

I’m going to try to do something a little different every couple weeks or so. Any suggestions?

TN Theta links

As I cruised the superhighway this morning, I found the following links.

Somebody tell Kelly his site is over 3 years out of date. You can still read about summer party 2002!

The undergrads appear to have a solid membership. How many of these guys are paying dues?

Any other interesting links floating out there?

As we age, there is something to keep in mind

Tattoos stretch and droop.

Gas prices! Whoa!

Why did we invade Iraq, again? Gas prices here in Columbus are up to 2.69/gallon. Just last week, gas was priced at 2.39/gallon. I thought we invaded Iraq to rape her of her natural resources... get to the oil siphoning already!

Getting Away

Well, Elizabeth and I left Zachary home for the first time last weekend. He stayed with her Mom for 2 whole nights. It was harder on me to be “without” him – he is always attached to my hip.
We went to a neat bed and breakfast in Louisville, KY. This was the first vacation we’ve really had since before she was pregnant. I wasn’t wild about the B and B thing before this but, we had a great time and I highly recommend it over staying at a hotel.

If you are interested...

A friend of mine from High School was kind enough to remind me of the last time I lost a fight. It's on my blog in the comments around the Prostate Surgery story.

blogger not keeping text of posts right now...

Tis fixed, obviously!

Let's start a new series: Whateverhappenedto...

Whatever happened to Matt Mundy?

Whatever happened to Jason Eaton?

Whatever happened to James Cares? What? Oh, nevermind... being eaten by wild cougars is a noble way to go.

Hello from Hendersonville.

Since this is my first post I’ll keep it short and save my rants for later.
Kudos to Matt for a great idea. It’s nice to know what everyone is up to.

BTW: Matt – we are coming up to Jeffersonville, Indiana the first weekend in August. On the map, it’s the just across the river from Kentucky. Is this anywhere near you?

As for us, Elizabeth, Zachary, and I, we are doing great. I can’t complain much about the work at home Dad thing although, sometimes I feel like a fish out of water. I had to let go most of my clients in favor of giving Zachary a full time parent until he is of school age. This also gives me the time to work on my 3D animation skills which will secure a position for me when Zachary starts kindergarten.

Our family web site is still http://www.ishawn.com/ and I’ll add the link to the links section as soon as get a minute.

James: I’m with you, that orange is piercing my brain ( or is that Brian : ) Normally, Florida Orange is fine but, I can't see the blog so well when I’m squinting.

Pepto: "...........parallel universe?" <-- I was thinking Bazzarro World. Glad your comming back.

Take care everyone.

escaping from hell

Well it is official. I am escaping from hell. I am moving to jackson, TN and leaving this shithole call south bend goodbye. Yes I know Jackson is a shithole too but it is a TN shithole compared to a IN shithole. It's kind of like comparing having bannanas or pineapples shoved up your ass. I prefer bannanas on most days of the week. Danelle and I have found a house in Jackson and will start our move there sometime in late August. we will not be able to move into the house until Sept 1. To see the house, go to realtor.com and search for 151 bent oaks, Jackson, TN. We got a really good price on the house because of all the registered sex offenders in the nieghborhood. Just kidding. Our child custody case has started and we have lost the first round. My wife's X, Bob, was able to get an injunction in place keeping us from taking Isaac out of state until the case could go to court. Now he has the luxury of slowing the process down until we cry mercy. This is going to get expensive. I survived cancer, I can survive Bob.
FYI - My wife and I had dinner with Randy Moffit and his wife last week. We had a hell of a time. We stayed up til the wee hours remembering the good old days. His house in Jackson is about 5 minutes from my new house. Me and Randy together.......in the same town........without either of us drinking..........with kids...........parallel universe?

Please note the new links section

Please feel free to add your links. If you don't know how, send them to me and I'll add them. I need the address and the "short name" you want as a label.

Let me know what you think of the new layout.

One more thing: Hotel CarMatt

Just a reminder that the hotel CarMatt is open. Anyone travelling to Indy or points North is welcome to spend the night. Likewise, anyone travelling from somewhere in the snow-country to Tennessee or points South is welcome to take a rest break. Our pool is open until the heat breaks, so come soon!

BTW: Tomorrow's forecast is 98 degrees with a heat index of 110. If I spot one of those boy band wonders, I'm kickin' him in the shins.

Nashvegas for bid-ness

It looks like I'll be in Nashville for a day and a half (Aug 4-5) for some meetings. It's not firm, but I hope it works out.

The last time I was in town on a Thursday, I went to the weekly poker game. I enjoyed it, but it was toooooo Smokey to repeat. I have the option of going to dinner with everyone or making my own plans. I won't have my own rental this trip, so if anyone would like to pick me up from the hotel by the airport and go to dinner... :) If not, I'm covered, but I'd rather go to dinner with friends than go with 15 other people from out of town.
